Programs listed are quality Accessible Art experiences for students from K3 -12. In these programs, special considerations are given to students with disabilities as they discover that artistic expression unites us all in a shared medium of self-discovery.

In all programs, the participants are taught basic sewing skills. Embroidery basics are taught if written text is part of the artwork being created. In some cases, fabric stick-glue is used to hold design in place until participants are able to sew their images.

DREAMS AND MEMORIES is a Cultural Diversity quilt program that gives immigrant students the opportunity to discover and share their unique stories through writing, telling stories and making story quilts. The primary goal of this project is for each student to create beautiful story-quilt blocks on the theme/subject of their "memories" of their homelands and their "dreams" of their new country - America- while, at the same time, learning basic sewing and quilting skills. Completed blocks are combined into one united quilted banner.

GLOBAL WORLD introduces participants to the world of multicultural art from around the globe. Participants explore different traditions and cultures and are sometimes surprised to discover how the same traditions exist within many different communities, including their own. Participants explore these ideas and illustrate the connections/similarities by means of their own quilt blocks. Final work is presented in book form and/or as wall hanging.

QUILTED LITERATURE makes connections between visual art (quilt making) and reading. Participants create illustrations for a book and express their thoughts on the story by means of their own story-quilt blocks. Participants are encouraged to use one or two "quotes" from the source literature within the artwork and design that they create.

VOICE ON CLOTH promotes creative thinking and the concept of art as a visual language. The creation of Story Quilts, Story Banners, Fabric Murals, Fabric Art Books, and Fabric Post Cards provides nurturing experiences in which young people develop awareness and awaken the artist within.

STORY-QUILT MURAL is a collaborative art project for grades K3-12 that allows all the students of a designated class group to participate in an art project in which the students cooperate to create a single, united fabric mural. Participants learn to work in teams as they explore various colors, fabrics and designs. The end result promotes self-esteem and allows participants to see the unique "thing of beauty" that results from working together.
